Celebrate October as Iowa Craft Cider Month
Proclamation Recognizes the Broad Impact of Iowa Craft Brewing Industry
OCTOBER IS IOWA CRAFT CIDER MONTH!
The Iowa Brewers Guild proudly announces October 2024 as Iowa Craft Cider Month. This celebration demonstrates the broad economic and community impact the craft brewing industry has on the state of Iowa as part of the larger Nation Craft Cider Month. Iowa’s craft cideries are part of the larger craft brewing community generating $1.2 billion of economic impact in 2022.
Coinciding with the apple harvest season, this month-long celebration showcases the artistry of cidermaking, from orchard to glass, while spotlighting Iowa’s craft cideries. Modern cidermaking pairs traditional techniques with modern innovation and flavors.
“Iowa craft cider as a part of our Iowa brewing community” said IBG Executive Director Noreen Otto. “Our cidery members add a whole additional level of taste and talent to our growing industry and vibrant taprooms.”
Iowa cideries continue to innovate and grow. Iowa ciders have received national recognition for product quality including the US Open Cider Competition and the Great Lakes International Cider Competition. Iowa cideries have been recognized for agriculture partnerships with the Choose Iowa program and as part of the Iowa Green Brewery Certification program at UNI.
The Iowa Brewers Guild exists to unify craft brewing professionals, promote Iowa beer, and advocate for the industry’s growth. For more information on National Cider Month visit www.nationalcidermonth.com.
