Iowa Craft Brew Festival


The Iowa Brewers Guild's 7th annual Iowa Craft Brew Festival will be held on Saturday, June 17, from 1-5 p.m. in the 200 block of East 3rd Street in downtown Des Moines.

One of the flagship events of Des Moines Beer Week, this year's fest will feature over 50 Iowa breweries, along with a host of regional and national craft breweries. Participating breweries will be pouring unlimited beer tastes of approximately 300 beers, including a variety of limited release brews.

In addition to an array of outstanding beers, the ICBF will feature food from Ceviche Bar, Iowa TaproomMelts without Borders, Over the Top, Molly's Cupcakes, and Forefathers Bacon; and, for goodness sakes--we'll even have an app for you to download soon (stay tuned)!

A limited number of VIP pass holders get exclusive early access into the festival to beat the crowds from 1-2 p.m., as well as a special tasting glass. General admission ticket holders can enter the festival grounds at 2 p.m. Designated driver tickets are available for $5.

This event will sell out—no day-of tickets will be available.

The Festival of Iowa Beers is the state's longest running beer festival held each year on the Sunday before Labor Day at Millstream Brewing Company in Amana. Debuting in 2005 with 300 attendees sampling beers from eight Iowa breweries, today, FoIB attendance is capped at 1,200 while featuring over 30 Iowa breweries. 

The fest runs from 1-5 pm on Sunday, Sept. 3. Admission includes a souvenir glass and unlimited beer samples. Food and live music will be provided.

Tickets ($25 in advance and $30 day-of) are available at Millstream's tasting room or online here.

This event is for 21+ only and all tickets are non-refundable.

A daylong education and outreach conference for IBG members as well as the general public, i-BEST (Iowa Brewers Education Seminar and Tippling) is packed with useful brewing and beer business information. The 2017 conference will be hosted by Worth Brewing Company in Northwood, Iowa on Nov. 4.

I-BEST has something for everyone. For those already in the craft brewing industry, content addresses issues on technical brewing as well as business and marketing. Homebrewers looking to improve their skills will find helpful information, and those planning a brewery or looking to transition into the industry will also benefit. Breakout sessions allow attendees to chose between seminars on the business/marketing side of the industry or technical brewing.

Along with seminars on brewery insurance, maintenance, content marketing, photography, and more, the 2017 closing keynote address will be delivered by Rebecca Newman of Summit Brewing Company.

In addition to a full day of beer and brewing education, i-BEST includes morning refreshments, lunch, networking with IBG Allied trade members & sponsors, and tippling.

Iowa Brewers Olympics

Part of Cedar Rapids Beer Week, the inaugural Iowa Brewers Olympics will take place at Lion Bridge Brewing Company on Friday, May 12, 2017. Come watch 10 Iowa breweries vie for superiority in a series of events designed to test both palates and speed of moving grain from pallet to pallet. And a whole artistic palette of other fun events.

The fun kicks of at 3 p.m. Come root for your favorite team and enjoy beers from the participants: Backpocket, Big Grove, Confluence, Firetrucker, Iowa Brewing, Lark, Lion Bridge, Peace Tree, Quarter Barrel, and SingleSpeed.

In conjunction with American Craft Beer Week, 60 IBG member breweries open their doors to beer lovers for a daylong series of free VIP tours of their facilities on Saturday, May 20.

Join us for a backstage pass into the brewing process--complete with samples of beer mid- and post-production. Tour de Tanks offers a special opportunity to learn from the brewers who are making the Iowa brewing scene so exciting, so plan your day well (and recruit a designated driver) so that you can tour the fermentation tanks of multiple Iowa breweries in one flavor-filled day!

 

Tours will take place between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., with each brewery setting its own schedule and tour size limit.
