Iowa Ambassador of Craft Award

NEW in 2023: an award from the Iowa Brewers Guild recognizing those who have had a positive impact on the Iowa brewing industry and community.

Congratulations to our 2023 Inaugural Ambassador of Craft Award Winners:

  • Jess Klembara, Founder “Scars are Beautiful” & Marketing Director, Confluence Brewing

  • Doug Alberhasky, Owner, John’s Grocery, Iowa City

  • Megan McKay, Owner & Founder Peace Tree Brewing Company, Knoxville

The Iowa Brewers Guild Ambassador of Craft Award recognizes those who exemplify leadership and commitment within the Iowa Craft Brewing Industry.

Recognition
Nominees may either be individuals who have shown exemplary industry leadership in Iowa, such as a pioneering craft brewer, a tireless legislative champion, a passionate craft beer industry or community member OR organizations who have shown collective leadership, such as an industry-leading brewery, an exemplary craft beer retailer, an amazing allied partner or organization.

Nominees do not necessarily need to be members of the Iowa Brewers Guild (ex. state legislator or a charitable organization with ties to craft brewing) but Guild support and involvement will be considered during the selection process.

Nomination Process
Ambassador of Craft nominees will be evaluated by Iowa Brewers Guild staff, as well as Board members. A board member will be asked to recuse themselves from discussions and deliberations if a conflict exists.

Any Iowa Brewers Guild member is eligible to submit nominations for the Ambassador of Craft awards through October 20, 2023.

Members are welcome to submit multiple nominations, but a separate nomination form should be submitted for each candidate.  The number of awards will depend on nominations received. Nomination form can be downloaded HERE.

The committee will evaluate nominees based on impact made in any of these areas:

  • The nominee’s commitment to supporting their local community through charitable giving, humanitarian relief, and more.

  • The nominee’s impact on legislative/regulatory progress for the Iowa craft brewing industry.

  • The nominee’s willingness to pass on knowledge and best practices and serve as a mentor.

  • The nominee’s work bringing new people to craft beer–making the industry and its customer base more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming.

  • The nominee’s work as a tireless promoter of the overall Iowa craft brewing industry–growing consumer awareness, education, and market share for Iowa craft beer.

Award recipients will be announced at the Iowa Brewers Guild Annual Education Conference, I-BEST, November 4, 2023 in Des Moines.
